Graduate Assistant End of Appointment Letter Checklist

A letter ending a graduate assistant position for reasons other than just cause must include each of the following provisions:

  1. University job title and corresponding job code.
  2. Specific University of Minnesota college/campus/administrative unit and, if applicable, department/division for this position.
  3. Student ID.
  4. Kind of appointment (e.g., regular annual, conditional annual, single-semester, or flexible hourly).
  5. Percent time of appointment.
  6. Appointment type.
  7. Appointment term (length of appointment).
  8. Actual end date of the appointment.
  9. Reference ending of appointment is in accordance with the Administrative Policy: Graduate Assistant Employment Policy
  10. Referral to resources available within and outside the University (e.g., Boynton Health Services, etc.).
  11. Signature of responsible administrator.
