The Wellness Program
The University of Minnesota wants to support your health. Whether that means helping you reduce your stress, manage a chronic condition, lose some weight, or stay healthy, the Wellness Program offers you a way to achieve your goal and be rewarded for it.
The Wellness Program is available to all University employees and their spouses covered by the UPlan Medical Program. The Wellness Program helps you:
- Save money on your annual UPlan rates in 2018
- Rewards you for activities you already do to stay healthy
- Gives you the chance to try out new wellness activities for little or no cost.
How it works
When you complete Wellness Program activities, you earn wellness points. The number of points you need to earn depends on who is covered under your plan. To see how many points you need to earn to get a UPlan rate reduction in 2018, take a look at this chart:

Note: The UPlan rate reduction you get through the Wellness Program will reflect in your 2018 paychecks over 26 pay periods.
How to Begin Earning Wellness Points
There is no right or wrong way to earn all the points you need. However, there is a common path that many people take when they start earning points:
- Take the wellness assessment on StayWell Online to earn 150 points in less than ten minutes. If your spouse is covered by the UPlan, he or she can also take the wellness assessment on StayWell Online and earn 150 points.
- Set up a biometric health screening either through Boynton Health Service, the Duluth QuickCare Clinic, or through your physician's office [Provider form] and earn 150 points.

Because we know that wellness has a different meaning to everyone, we offer many types of programs to reward employees for focusing on their health. To make navigating your own path to wellness easier, the wellness programs are organized into categories.
