Plan Overview

University of Minnesota Retiree Plan with Group MedicareBlue Rx — U of M Plan 1

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota remains committed to supporting the University of Minnesota’s pledge to provide comprehensive retiree health care benefits at an affordable cost. Blue Cross has a trusted reputation nationwide.

The U of M Retiree Plan works with Medicare to provide additional medical and prescription drug coverage. The plan features include easy access to providers, worldwide coverage, and preventive care.

Original Medicare does not cover everything. There are deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance for Medicare-eligible services and supplies that are covered under the U of M Retiree Plan.

Group Platinum Blue Plan C with MedicareBlue Rx — U of M Plan 2

Group Platinum Blue Plan C works with your Medicare benefits to help you manage your out-of-pocket costs for Medicare-eligible services. The plan offers lower premiums and somewhat higher copays and coinsurance for health care services, but with the protection of an annual out-of-pocket maximum.

You must be a permanent resident of Minnesota to enroll in this plan.

The plan features include easy access to providers, travel coverage, and preventive care.

For more details on coverage for both plans, see the Medical Plan Comparsion charts.

Medicare Part D

Both Blue Cross Blue Shield plans include Medicare Part D with the premium included in your medical plan premium.
