Resources for New Employees

Addressing and Mailing. Addressing & Mailing Services is here to help with all of your mailing needs. Whether your mailing has just a few pieces or a few thousand pieces, we can assist in getting your mailing ready for distribution to on-campus, off-campus, coordinate campus, or international recipients.

Aurora Center for Advocacy & Education. The Aurora Center for Advocacy & Education provides support to victims/survivors of sexual violence including sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, and sexual harassment. It also provides prevention education for supporting survivors, healthy relationships, bystander intervention, and more. Aurora’s services are free and confidential to undergraduate, graduate and professional students, faculty, and staff affiliated with the University of Minnesota and Augsburg University.

Bargaining Units. The University engages with several bargaining units and all of the current collective bargaining agreements are located on the Employee Relations web page.

Benefits. The University offers a comprehensive total compensation package for benefits-eligible employees. As a new employee, you may be eligible for benefits. Benefits-eligible employees will receive an email invitation to enroll in benefits. If you are eligible, you only have 30 days from your date of hire to enroll in benefits so it is very important that you watch for this e-mail and enroll by the deadline. 

Black Faculty and Staff. The mission of the Black Faculty & Staff Association (BFSA) is to build and maintain a well-connected community of Black employees to increase their sense of belonging and affinity to the U of M. 

Boynton Health. Boynton Health serves the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, providing comprehensive health care with a public health approach to campus well-being. Our goal is to provide the highest quality of care for you in a culture that supports equity, inclusion and respect.

Campus Club. The Campus Club of the University of Minnesota is the University’s premier restaurant and event venue, located on the fourth floor of Coffman Memorial Union.  We’re an affordable member organization that is open to all individuals and businesses, as well as University departments. 

Disability Resource Center. The Disability Resource Center (DRC) works in partnership with students, faculty, staff, and guests of the University to eliminate or minimize barriers and facilitate inclusion on campus. 

Gender & Sexuality Center for Queer & Trans Life. The Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life provides education, advocacy, outreach, and support to students, staff, faculty, alum, and community members.

Information Technology. The University's central IT unit and provides enterprise-level technologies and services that are broadly consumed, core to central administrative business operations, and tend to offer substantial economies of scale.

M Dining. M Dining services six dining halls and 35 on-campus restaurants. Faculty and Staff can conveniently dine close to work with an all-you-care-to-eat meal plan.

Northrop. Northrop seeks to enrich the campus experience, promote engagement beyond the classroom, develop and foster vitality in arts and culture, and create opportunities for cross-disciplinary dialogue. University faculty and staff receive some of the best discounts to Northrop performances. 

Office for Equity and Diversity. The Office for Equity and Diversity works to increase access to higher education by advocating for members of our community and emphasizing the importance of diversity in promoting learning and development at the University of Minnesota. 

Office of Institutional Compliance. The Office of Institutional Compliance supports the University and its members to consistently comply with all laws, rules, regulations, and related University policies that govern the University and to enhance cultural awareness of the importance of compliance and related integrity to the University’s mission.

Office of Sustainability. The Office of Sustainability and the educational campaign It All Adds Up provides direction and coordination for sustainability initiatives in the Twin Cities. 

Parking & Transportation Services. There are many options for getting to, from, and around campus. Parking and Transportation Services has everything you'll need. 

Post Doc Association. The Post Doc Association is a channel through which postdocs can express their views to the university administration, and also from which they can find help and proactive support on issues of employment, professional development, and life at this University.

Regents Scholarship Program. The Regents Scholarship Program provides all or a portion of tuition costs for employees enrolled in courses at the University. 

Research Compliance Office. The Research Compliance Office (RCO) supports the research community by facilitating the investigation of research compliance concerns, overseeing research ethics and compliance education, and assisting other ethics, regulatory, and financial compliance programs across the University.

U Card. Your U Card is your official employee identification and you may need it to access buildings and print in some places. You’ll need to present an approved primary form of a government-issued photo ID to get your U Card. Check the U Card website for details.

University Government and Community Relations. Government and Community Relations advances the interests of the entire University of Minnesota system at the Capitol in Saint Paul, in Washington, D.C., and among our community partners and neighbors.

University Health and Safety. University Health and Safety is charged with providing leadership, resources, and services to protect the environment and to ensure the health and safety of the University's students, faculty, staff, patients, and visiting public. 

University Libraries. The University's expert librarians can connect you with the resources you need — from the millions of volumes held in our general collections to the treasures of our archives and special collections, from tools to enhance your productivity to programs and services to help you expand the reach of your research.

University of Minnesota Alumni Association. University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA) connects alumni with each other, supports student success, and advances the University of Minnesota. The Alumni Association advocates for the University and its alumni with a credible, independent, and collaborative voice. 

University of Minnesota Bookstores. The University of Minnesota Bookstores offers several ways for U of M employees to take advantage of special savings in-store and online including Apple education pricing and payroll deduction. 

University of Minnesota Recycling Programs. The University of Minnesota Twin Cities Recycling Program is nationally recognized for innovation and excellence. Waste on campus is collected in four streams: paper, cans & bottles, organics, and trash. Paper and cans & bottles are brought to the University of Minnesota’s Materials Recovery Facility where the recyclables are hand-sorted and sold to be manufactured into new products. 

University Recreation and Wellness. The mission of University Recreation and Wellness is to serve all students and the greater University community by enriching the campus experience and encouraging lifelong wellbeing. 

University Senate Governance. The University Senate is composed of 251 elected senators and 26 Senate Consultative Committee members. This includes faculty, civil service and P&A staff, and student representatives from the Crookston, Duluth, Morris, Rochester, and Twin Cities campuses.
