The New Employee Welcome is all about making connections. Connections to our culture, community, and the abundance of resources on campus to empower you and support you in your drive to change the world. Attending the New Employee Welcome will help you:

    • Understand the history of the University, our culture, who we are today, and our strategic goals for the future 
    • Connect with the U as a great place to work and a place to make a long-lasting contribution to the state of Minnesota through our mission
    • Affirm your decision to work here
    • Meet new colleagues from outside of your college or unit

Time spent at the New Employee Welcome is considered paid work time. Check with your supervisor to register the session that works best.

8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Enjoy a light breakfast, network with your new colleagues, and get your picture taken with Goldy!*
8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Welcome to the University of Minnesota presentation. An introduction to where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we’re headed.  
10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Welcome Fair: An opportunity to meet with more than 30 University offices and resources about how they can support your work life at the U.

* It's our tradition for new employees to take photos with Goldy, however, Goldy is unavailable on June 28.

Parking and Transportation 

The University Avenue Parking Ramp is located next to the McNamara Alumni Center. Campus shuttles are a convenient way to get to McNamara from your office. You can find schedules through Parking and Transportation Services. The Oak Street and University Avenue or the McNamara stops are the closest to the McNamara Alumni Center entrance.
