P&A Non-Renewal of Appointment Letter Checklist
A non-renewal letter for a P&A position must include each of the following provisions:
- University job title and corresponding job code
- Specific University of Minnesota college/campus/administrative unit and, if applicable, department/division for this position
- Employee ID
- Percent time of appointment
- Length of appointment (e.g. 9 months, 10 months, 12 months)
- Actual end date of the appointment; if end date is not within the current appointment period, then note that extension of appointment is being provided but does not constitute a new appointment
- Reference notice of non-renewal is in accordance with the University Administrative Policy: Non-Renewal of Appointment for Academic Professional and Administrative Employees
- Salary
- Referral to resources available within and outside the University (e.g., Employee Benefits, Employee Career Services, etc.)
- Refer to University Administrative Policy: Non-Renewal Program for Academic Professional and Administrative Employees, if eligible
- Describe any known reassignment of duties during notice period
- Signature of responsible administrator
- Copies distributed as appropriate
