The Wellness Program

The University of Minnesota wants to support your health. Whether that means helping you reduce your stress, manage a chronic condition, lose some weight, or stay healthy, the Wellness Program offers you a way to achieve your goal and be rewarded for it.

The Wellness Program is available to all University employees and their spouses covered by the UPlan Medical Program. The Wellness Program helps you:

  • Save money on your annual UPlan rates in 2018
  • Rewards you for activities you already do to stay healthy
  • Gives you the chance to try out new wellness activities for little or no cost.

How it works

When you complete Wellness Program activities, you earn wellness points. The number of points you need to earn depends on who is covered under your plan. To see how many points you need to earn to get a UPlan rate reduction in 2018, take a look at this chart:

If your UPlan coverage is: You need to earn at least: To save this amount in 2018:
Employee-only 400 points $400
Employee and Children 400 points $400
Employee and Spouse with or without Children 600 points (your spouse can earn up to 200 of these points) $600

Note: The UPlan rate reduction you get through the Wellness Program will reflect in your 2018 paychecks over 26 pay periods.
